FAQ’s

Do I need a licence to become a member?

You don’t need a licence to become a member, but you must hold a Boating Licence to take any Pacific Boating boat out. We can assist members in obtaining their Boating Licence. Go to the Waterways Authority website to practice online.

I am new to boating. Can you teach me?

Yes. The majority of our members are new to boating when they join. Included in your Membership fee is a comprehensive practical course on boat handling and familiarisation, conducted by experienced instructors.

How often can I use the boats?

Members are entitled to use a Pacific Boating boat for up to 30 days per year during their membership year. The Pacific Boating Group is structured on a credit system which allows you to use boats for evenings, whole weekends and weekdays. You decide how often you want to use the boats. For instance if you only wanted to use the boats for an evening cruise during the week, you could take a boat out once a week for the whole year.

What happens in the case of bad weather?

If bad weather prevents you from taking your planned cruise you can defer to an alternative date, subject to availability and conditions.

What happens if I cancel a booked day out?

You can defer your cruise to an alternative date, subject to availability and conditions.

Can I take the boat overnight?

Yes. Members with a current Boating Licence and whom Pacific Boating has approved may take the vessel out overnight provided they have booked consecutive days’ use.

What happens if the boat I have booked is out of service?

Pacific Boating will, at its sole discretion, offer you the use of an alternative vessel.

Can I pay my membership fee in installments?

Yes. Pacific Boating will allow you to part-pay your annual membership and pay the balance monthly during your membership year.
